Help me remember a book title?

I read a book in eight grade so 1992-1993 about a group of teens who are sent to what they believe is a virtual reality where they must try to survive as a team. At the end, they learn they're being sent to colonize a new world and this has all been practice. It's not Hunger Games or Ender's Game. I feel like there's a maze at some point, or challenges at least, that they must face. Thanks for any help.
